About the Author
Caryl, praying her story gives God glory, loves writing for Christian genres–historical and contemporary romance, Biblical fiction, and mid-grade especially. Love Covers in JUST KIN
What a blessed theme for the sixth book of my Texas Romance series, JUST KIN. It’s also my twenty-fifth book to be published! If we Christians could only get ‘Love covers’ into our heads, what a difference it would make in the world! I know the Lord has given me TWO songs to help me with this issue, not covering…talking about situations or things that have happened that are not pure or lovely or worthy of a good report; putting others in a bad light.
That is not love. God is Love. And He says Love covers a multitude of sins.
This causes me to immediately think of the Truth in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13—the LOVE chapter—right? Though we do find out a lot about love there, summed up in “Love never fails”, it is in 1 Peter that the ‘Love covers’ scripture is found, fourth chapter, eighth verse: “And above all things have fervent charity [love] among yourselves: for charity [love] shall cover the multitude of sins.”KJV
Read it twice. Notice the word ‘the’ used to modify ‘multitude of sins’. Doesn’t that lend itself to the assumption that there WILL BE sins? What about ‘among yourselves’? That definitely indicates HIS PEOPLE. And this charity—this love—is touted of the greatest importance… above ‘all things,’ not some…or most…but ALL.
In JUST KIN, both my hero and heroine are plagued by tempting situations and bad choices. They don’t always act as Christians should. Do we? Wouldn’t you love to answer yes, but most can’t. So then, they both move away from God walking outside His will. They know right from wrong, but the devil is wily.
If these two ever meet again, will each be able to forgive the other? Will their love for one another ‘cover’ their sins?
Set in the Civil War days, from its start in 1861 to its end in 1865, Charley Nightingale and Lacey Rose both grow up fast in a country gone crazy all around them. I cannot imagine war between the states happening today. Wouldn’t that be horrendous? And though Charley and his whole family do not condone one human being owning another, they join the Confederacy to fight for their beloved Texas.
